Willemstad, Curacao (Billboard Publicity Wire / PRWEB) December 21, 2004 -- His royal highness prince Albert of Monaco was for 2 days at Curacao and Aruba last month. He was here for his work as a representative of the Laureus foundation. This foundation gives support to young people that have problems as a result of poverty, violence, drugs, war or discrimination, and promotes sports to achieve social changes. Prince Albert, a big sports fan and a member of the IOC, visited the Amstel Bright Race at Curacao. This cycling event took place for the third time this year and was all about the farewell of Olympic champion Leontien Zijlaard- van Moorsel. Prince Albert handed the first price of the race out to winner Oscar Freire and hopes to enthusiast the cyclists for the objectives of the Laureus foundation.
Besides his activities for the Laureus foundation, Prince Albert went to see a few other social projects. His visit to the Curacao Dolphin Therapy Center (CDTC) was very interesting. Both mentally and physically handicapped children are being helped by means of therapy with dolphins. This specific treatment has a very positive effect on these children. The dolphin doesn't heal itself, but the communication with the dolphin in combination with the help of specialized trainers enthusiasts the children so much that they can push back their bounds. A visit to a dolphin centre wouldn't be complete without being in the water with the dolphins yourself, and therefore the prince participated in his own Dolphin Swim. He was accompanied by the Dutch prince Pieter- Christiaan. Albert was extremely excited about the therapy as well as about his own swim. The picture shows the prince with dolphin trainer Aimee Brown of Dolphin Academy.
