New Christy Minstrels in May 9 San Francisco Concert

The New Christy Minstrels re-launched about two years ago, under the leadership of founder Randy Sparks, when they started performing throughout the West to sold out audiences made up of adoring former fans and those who simply enjoy their enduring, refreshing pop-folk style. In late March and early April, 2007 they have concert dates in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico. Between April 22 and 29 they will be on a sold out Mexican Riviera fan cruise on Royal Caribbean Line - billed as "Minstrels Music, Margaritas & Memories". They return to California for the May 9 benefit concert in San Francisco, before heading to Portland for another benefit in the Kridel Grand Ballroom of the Portland Art Museum. Of the eight current touring members, six were original Minstrels 45 years ago: Randy Sparks, Barry McGuire, Dolan Ellis, Jackie Miller Davidson, Art Podell and Clarence Treat.

The San Francisco benefit for Restore Hetch Hetchy will likely be the New Christy Minstrels' only 2007 Bay Area performance, before they start the year long world tour in June 2007.
