Prodigy Speaks; Talks Koch Mixtape; Upcoming "H.N.I.C.2" Album and Film

Prodigy recently spoke out -- in a statement released by his management company -- Purfekstorm Management, regarding the "H.N.I.C." film, his Koch distributed mixtape, "Return of The Mac" and plans for his upcoming highly anticipated album "H.N.I.C. 2."

(Billboard Publicity Wire) April 12, 2007 -- Prodigy recently announced that starting this May, his production company (Infamous Films) will begin production on his second feature film entitled "H.N.I.C." directed by Marvis Johnson of (Buck 50 Productions).

Now, Prodigy speaks out, in a statement released by his management company, Purfekstorm Management, regarding the "H.N.I.C." film, his Koch distributed mixtape "Return of The Mac" and plans for his upcoming highly anticipated album "H.N.I.C. 2.".

Said Prodigy: "It has an all star cast of some major Hollywood actors which I will keep under wraps for right now, but we are casting for the last available roles starting April 7th...until April 20th. The film will be released with my 2nd Solo Album "H.N.I.C. 2" slated for mid July 2007.

"I'm also pleased to announce that "Return of the Mac". The mix-cd me and Alchemist did on Koch was a big success so far. 34k first week! Which are large #'s in the mix-cd world."

Prodigy continued: "Koch promoted it like a album to maximize their sale of the product, and I didn't want the Fan's, Radio, or Retail to get it confused with my 2nd solo album "H.N.I.C. 2", that's why I said- "this is just my mix-cd, we just fuckin' around" on the "P speaks" skit. It's very important that I made that clear to the listeners.

"We were just gonna give it to Whoo Kid for free, until Koch saw my YouTube videos, then called me, and offered me a Million and a Half for it. When I do my Solo Album's it's a huge difference from a mix-cd. I put major singles on it like "Keep it Thoro" and "Quiet Storm" that would give me the visibility, and awareness it takes to make a album a profitable success. Koch is a great mix-cd company, but I don't know if they have the power to handle a big project like "H.N.I.C. 2". If It were to be a Koch release, it would most certainly shake up their "Graveyard" and turn it into 'The Dawn of The Dead!'"

About Prodigy
Born in Hempstead, New York, on Long Island, Prodigy makes up one half of the duo Mobb Deep. Prodigy spent years making a name for himself alongside partner Havoc on albums such as "The Infamous" 1995, and "Hell on Earth" in 1996, before releasing his platinum debut solo album, "H.N.I.C.", on Loud Records in late 2000. In this album, Prodigy teamed up with a roster of outside producers such as the Alchemist and Rockwilder, trying to prove his own without Havoc's production to carry him. Even though Havoc did appear on two tracks, Prodigy undoubtedly proved himself to be a visionary solo artist, even going as far as to produce a couple songs himself. The album captured the hearts of both critics and fans alike, as he had with his work in Mobb Deep, dropping harsh reality-based rhymes about the darker side of urban life with an unbalanced and sedate flow.

The group left Loud Records, Mobb Deep then signed with Jive Records under a unique deal that gave the duo its own imprint, Infamous Records, and released "Amerika'z Nightmare". The duo was not happy with Jive, and was let go at its request. The duo took a hiatus afterward and came back in 2006, signing to 50 Cent's Interscope/Universal-distributed G-Unit imprint.

In March 2007, Prodigy released an unofficial mixtape "The Return of the Mac" which was produced entirely by The Alchemist (D.J. for Eminem) on the independent label Koch Records. The mixtape single and mixtape video is called "Mac 10 Handle," and it shows Prodigy once again reverting to his trademark braids that he had prior to the release of Mobb Deep's 2004 "Amerika'z Nightmare" album from the short fade he had from 2004 to 2006. After selling over six million records in the US alone; Prodigy will release his highly anticipated sophomore album "H.N.I.C. Part 2" in 2007.
