International Drum Legend, Ignacio Berroa Walks Home with '07 Award for 'Best International Jazz Album of the Year' for 'CODES'
With eight intimate tracks, Codes is not only an International winner at the Danish Music Awards 2007, it also celebrates an experiential masterpiece.
Los Angeles, CA (Billboard Publicity Wire) June 22, 2007 -- International drummer and composer Ignacio Berroa walked home with the 2007 Danish Music Award for "Best International Jazz Album of the Year" for his long-awaited debut album "CODES" (Blue Note Records). The 19th Annual Danish Music Awards celebrated the best of last year at the KB-Hallen in Copenhagen, Denmark on Saturday, June 8th, 2007. "CODES" has swept the souls of listeners across the globe, with an all-star line up that includes, David Sanchez, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Edward Simon, John Patitucci and Giovanni Hidalgo.

Co-produced by Ignacio Berroa, Rubalcaba and Ricardo (Edito) Martinez, "CODES", has been recognized by Denmark as the best International Jazz album. This remarkable album presents up-tempo tracks like "Matrix" and "Pinocchio" where Latin and Jazz meet in the middle. Berroa has been traveling extensively in '07 performing at various engagements worldwide to include the Heineken Jazz Festival in Puerto Rico, as well as many other engagements in the U.S. Ignacio Berroa will also be at the New Calgary Jazz Festival on June 21st, and Medicine Hat Jazz Festival on June 22nd in Canada. He will also be the headliner at the Flint Jazz Festival in Flint, MI, on August 4th.
