The Palme D'Or of Music - Austin Band, The Black & White Years Rocks MIDEM.

Artist Programmer for MIDEM states, "If MIDEM awarded a Palme D'Or for Music, as the Cannes Film Festival does for film, it would most definitely go to The Black & White Years." Jerry Harrison- produced debut album to be released on February 26th.

Austin, TX (Billboard Publicity Wire) February 11, 2008 -- The Black & White Years, from Austin, TX, delivered a triumphant performance at the international music conference, MIDEM '08, prompting Virginie Perrault, MIDEM's Artist Programmer to say, "I just knew after listening to The Black & White Years album that they would be aces on stage. Once in a blue moon, I happen to fall on a band like that, not often, and believe me I listen to a lot of new bands. They are one in a million. If MIDEM awarded a PALME D'OR for Music, as the Cannes Film Festival does for film, it would most definitely go to The Black & White Years." And, Panos Panay, the CEO and Founder of Sonicbids, the sponsor of the MIDEM Talent Only Showcase series, stated, "Seeing The Black & White Years on stage at MIDEM was breathtaking. I never saw a crowd of industry insiders so enthralled and so under the spell of a single band. Wow."

On February 26th, Texas label, Brando Records, the indie label behind Platinum selling band, Blue October, will release the band's eponymous debut album featuring "Power to Change," currently #1 on Modern Rock station, WEQX. The album was produced by Jerry Harrison, former member of The Talking Heads and Modern Lovers. Harrison discovered the band at SXSW '07 after being intrigued by their comparisons to the Talking Heads. Although Harrison was only one of handful of people in attendance at the band's show, he was inspired enough to spend the next two days at their home studio listening to all of their material. Six weeks later Harrison and The Black & White Years were in the studio together recording the album at Harrison's Sausalito Sound. The album has already prompted Austin Powell of the Austin Chronicle and host of 101X 's "Next Big Thing" to write of the album, "(it) carries all the Heads' trademarks: scattershot guitar, snaking synths, and quirky, hyperintelligent lyricism."

The Black & White Years return to Austin on February 22 for a performance at STUBB'S in celebration of the release of the album.
