N.Y.'s Reverend Zen Receives Worldwide Accolades From France's 100% Song Contest In Paris, The U.K. Song Contest In London And The Australia Song Contest In Sydney.

Reverend Zen named Finalists in France's 2008 100% Song Contest, Semi Finalists in the 2008 U.K. Song Contest and the 2008 Australia Song Contest.

Katonah, NY (Billboard Publicity Wire) September 10, 2008 -- The New York group Reverend Zen is continuing to receive music industry accolades for the third consecutive year. The band's "Dangerous Times" has just been named a Finalist in France's 2008 100% Songwriting Contest in Paris. In August their songs "Dangerous Times", "Bad Attitude" and "Her Love" were all named Semi Finalists in the 2008 U.K. Songwriting Contest in London, with "Bad Attitude" named Semi Finalist in the 2008 Australia Songwriting Contest in Sydney.

France's 100% Songwriting Contest is sponsored by the 100% Recording Studio and In - d Sounds Radio in the Ile- de- France province town of Arville near Paris. "We're proud to honor an up and coming independent artist such as Reverend Zen in our 100% Song Contest.", states In - d Sounds Radio President Vincent Bernay. In addition to the band's Finalist Award in the Best Performance category for "Dangerous Times", the group's "Bad Attitude" and "The Boston Shakedown" were named Semi Finalists in the Blues/Jazz category of the 100% Contest.

In late August "Dangerous Times", "Bad Attitude" and "Her Love" were all named Semi Finalists in the Blues/Jazz category of the 2008 U.K. Songwriting Contest in London. The U.K. contest is sponsored by BBC Radio and the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters. Preceding those awards "Bad Attitude" was named a Semi Finalist in the International category of the 2008 Australia Songwriting Contest in Sydney. The Australia contest is sponsored by the Australia Songwriters Association and the Australian Performing Rights Association.

Earlier this year Reverend Zen's "The Boston Shakedown" was named 2007/2008 Blues/Rock Song of the Year by ABC Radio Network's Fame Games Effigy Awards in Spain. "Reverend Zen sounds like a killer band.", remarks Effigy Awards CEO Paul Sedowski. "They're tight, full of energy, highly accomplished and credible."

In 2007 Reverend Zen was named Blues Artist of the Year by the 2007 Los Angeles Music Awards. They also received 2007 Finalist Awards from the Unisong International Song Contest in L.A. for "Bad Attitude" and "Magdalena", 2007 Artist of the Year honors from WCH Radio in St. Louis, and a prestigious 2007 ASCAP Plus Award in New York for bandleader Jack Evans.

In late 2006 Reverend Zen's cd Angels, Blues & the Crying Moon received RGW Radio's Bronze Artist Award in Norfolk, U.K., with "Dangerous Times" named a Finalist in the 2006 VH1 Song of the Year Contest in Houston. Additionally, the group has received awards from the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest in Washington, D.C., the U.K.'s Singer-Songwriter Awards in London and the Billboard World Song Contest in New York. To date Mr. Evans and Reverend Zen has received forty-one music industry awards around the world.
