Innovative Package Tour The Kings County Caravan Hits Venues This Summer and Beyond
Acclaimed Brooklyn singer-songwriter Kara Suzanne takes her band The Gojo Hearts along with The Rev. John DeLore, Kenny Cambre and Steve Lewis on an innovative package tour called Kings County Caravan heading to Chicago and kicking off at Joe's Pub July 3rd. Sponsorship packages purchased by fans that include this lineup's live compilation CD entitled 'Volume One', show tickets and corporate donated merchandise have entirely funded this green-minded grassroots collective. A tour to the south and new 'Volume Two' Live CD are planned for this fall.
New York, NY (Billboard Publicity Wire) June 13, 2008 -- The brainchild of singer-songwriters Kara Suzanne and the Rev. John DeLore, the Kings County Caravan revives the idea of the package tours of old. Four singer-songwriting-rock-n-roll troubadours Kara Suzanne, Rev. John DeLore, Kenny Cambre, Alabama Steve Lewis are joined onstage by Suzanne's acclaimed band The Gojo Hearts. The struggles they've encountered honing their craft while living in Brooklyn have created a family bond that translates to the stage and envelopes everyone present. They put on a seamlessly flowing show that's been called "one of the most honest, soulful and rocking nights of music I've ever experienced."
The first tour 'Volume One' kicks off on July 3rd with a show at Joe's Pub in NYC. Next the Colony Café in Woodstock for a July 4th extravaganza, followed by dates in Buffalo, Rochester, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Appleton & Elkhart Lake WI. 'Volume Two' sets out this fall for dates in NC, SC, GA, AL, AR, LA and TX.
The Kings County Caravan takes D.I.Y. to a new level. To make their green-minded dream tour happen these working-class performers have taken matters into their own hands. The entire production is independently produced by the songwriters with a majority of financial assistance coming from fans. They've created a variety of sponsorship packages that include show tickets, the lineup's live compilation CD, and other merchandise most of which have been donated by corporate sponsors such as Foodgoods.com. Founder Kara Suzanne & the Gojo Hearts appear at the Fillmore NY @ Irving Plaza, the Living Room and Knitting Factory in NYC and the Luna Lounge and Southpaw in Brooklyn as well as the Hampton's and Nantucket Film Festivals 2007 and Sundance Film Festival 2008. Kara's first album 'Aumsville' can currently be purchased through the 'Paste Magazine Recommends' program. Rounding out the Gojo Hearts are Steve Lewis, playing electric guitar and lap-steel; Dave Cieri on piano and Wurlitzer; Jordan Scannella on electric and double bass; and Jay Frederick on drums and percussion.
